X-1R and Penn Fishing Tackle Manufacturing Company Sign Licensing Agreement to Co-Brand New Line of Lubricants and Grease for Fishing Tackle
Daytona Beach, Florida (October 17, 2005)
– The X-1R Corporation is pleased to announce a new licensing agreement with Penn Fishing Tackle Mfg. Company, a leading manufacturer of fishing tackle located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Penn has been manufacturing high quality fishing tackle since 1933 and is considered to be “The Biggest Name In Fishing!”
The X-1R Corporation, a specialty chemical company located in Daytona Beach, is well known for its full line of performance automotive lubricants and fuel additives that are sold by many major retailers. An integral part of top motorsports teams for more than fourteen years, X-1R lubricants have become synonymous with performance in virtually every industry featuring components that require metal-to-metal contact. Since the company’s innovative technology was tested and accepted for the NASA Space Program, X-1R has developed numerous spin-off products that incorporate the award winning technology for consumer use. The prestigious NASA honor earned X-1R the designation as “Certified Space Technology” and was followed by its induction into the Space Foundation/NASA Space Technology Hall of Fame. The company has developed lubricants for everything from 12-ounce fishing reels to the 12 million pound payload space shuttle crawler and continues to improve its products to meet the needs of industry.
In 2003, Penn engineers were looking for advanced lubricant technology that would benefit their manufacturing processes as well as provide angler’s with superior casting and retrieval while reducing wear on their equipment. Working closely with the Penn engineers, including over two years of testing, X-1R designed and formulated a line of lubricants and greases that met Penn’s stringent criteria. “The challenge was formulating the products for the marine environment, which would work in both fresh and salt water applications. Most marine equipment is subjected to a variety of extreme conditions such as prolonged exposure to the sun and the corrosive nature of salt and water. Based on the lubricity technology we developed for NASA, we were able to develop products for Penn that are far superior to anything on the market today,” said Edwin “E.T.” Longo, Director, Special Projects Development at The X-1R Corporation.
“We are excited about the opportunity to work with the Penn team to design, manufacture and distribute a comprehensive lubricant product line for the retail market. When you find two organizations that are committed to making the most technologically advanced products in their industry, and you back this up with the most stringent quality, service and performance standards – great things happen” said Terry Craig, president of X-1R.
The Penn Synthetic Reel Oil, Penn Synthetic Rod and Reel Cleaner with Corrosion Inhibitors and Penn Precision Reel Grease will be available at major retailers by January 2006.
